It is both an honor and my pleasure to welcome you to Gardiner's Bay Country Club.

From the moment you arrive at our Club you'll absorb the majestic vista across Gardiner's Bay and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Approaching our clubhouse, you'll be greeted by our friendly staff and understand you're somewhere very special.

We believe our club is the 'Hidden Gem' of the East End and look forward to your arrival. Throughout the golf course you'll catch shimmering shots of water views. The links Seth Raynor bestowed us is a beautiful employment of Hay Beach's topography. We hope you enjoy the experience.

Gardiner's Bay Country Club is most definitely a 'Club', our active membership ranges across all ages and from Memorial Day to Labor Day we're a hive of social golfing activity. In addition, our renowned junior program ensures we'll be a healthy Club for decades to come.

As Head Golf Professional one of my main priorities is helping members and guests to improve and enjoy their game of golf. Whether that may be coaching on the practice facility, golfing with members on the course, or finding you fellow members to golf with, my aim is to enhance your experience thereby increasing your enjoyment of our great game!

I look forward to meeting you soon.

  • Golf Shop
    • Our comprehensively stocked golf shop will fulfill all your golfing needs. We are proud to stock many premier manufacturers of apparel and equipment, including, but limited to: Nike, Ping, Taylor Made, Peter Millar, Ralph Lauren, DUNNING, Golfino, Adidas and Ecco.

We are big proponents of custom club-fitting for all our members and utilize a Flightscope Launch Monitor to Analyse the golf ball's flight. This provides our golf professionals with ball flight data to interpret the best equipment for you. Recent history is proving that the governing bodies of our beloved sport are enforcing stricter parameters on golf club and ball manufacturers. It is therefore all the more important to be custom fit for not only your irons and woods, but also wedges, putters, golf ball, shoes and glove.

The clothing manufacturers are doing their best to ensure we are comfortable on the course. They're pushing the limits of technology and using fabrications once reserved for extreme sports in their golf gear. Look for four way stretch, odor and moisture absorption, and easy-care properties in both tops and bottoms. Natural fibers are now being manufactured to mimic the 'tech' fabrics of recent years. So you can now look good on and off the course in dual purpose, 'Street to Green', high-performance apparel. As always, if you don't find what you’re looking for in the shop, we are happy to special order for you.

  • Golf Course
    • Gardiner's Bay Country Club's hilltop links stretches over 6,500 challenging yards, but is accessible to all skill levels from both the middle and forward tees. Sections of the course date back to 1896 and the layout takes maximum advantage of the topography of Shelter Island’s glacial past, with water views from many holes. It is simply a delight to play.

The original architect is unknown, however, in 1914 when Charles Blair MacDonald (of National Golf Links fame) was approaching 60, he convinced his protege, Seth Raynor, to strike out on his own. So Raynor took up the torch, applying C.B. MacDonald’s philosophy and putting his own virtuosi touch on the classic ideas absorbed from his mentor. In 1915 Raynor revised and added holes to Gardiner’s Bay Country Club. In 1916, Raynor and MacDonald worked together on the redesign of Shinnecock Hills, whose membership had been feeling miffed at being outshone by The National. Raynor would later go on to design many of America's best, including; Fisher's Island, Camargo Club, Yeaman's Hall, Shoreacres, Lookout Mountain and Yale.

  • Juniors
    • For over 50 years, Gardiner’s Bay Country Club has offered golf instruction to young players. Our junior program is unique in that we welcome children of both Members and non-Members. The Junior Golf Program is designed to foster an enjoyment of and appreciation for the game of golf while encouraging social interaction and camaraderie among the children.

The game of golf instills worthy traits in its participants. Children develop vital life skills such as: Honesty, Integrity, Courtesy and Respect. All of these attributes and many more are covered within the Gardiner's Bay Country Club Junior Golf Program.

Children also learn about all the physical facets of the game of golf: Driving, Iron Play, Bunker Play, Pitching, Chipping and of course, the game within the game…Putting. In addition, they are given an introduction to the rules and history of the game as well as how to maintain and respect the golf course.
Fun events are planned throughout the summer. We begin with an Opening Picnic to kick off the season and close with an Awards Ceremony. In between, there is Quiz Night, Bingo, Night Golf, and other fun events to bring the children together. Their skills are assessed with fun contests and prizes are awarded to those who can correctly answer questions about what they have been learning. Once a Junior Golfer demonstrates higher levels of proficiency on the golf course, they are invited to participate in special Junior tournaments.

Junior Golf at Gardiner’s Bay is an Island tradition. Many Junior Golfers become Members themselves and ultimately have their children come back and participate in our program.
